My tour leaders Philile and Khumbu were fantastic cooks, always providing plenty of extremely delicious meals which were always bursting with flavour. Another pleasant surprise was the meals we were provided. This was a great option, especially for the nights we arrived in the dark or if it was raining and there was always a variation of rooms with different prices available. Along the way we also had the option to upgrade to a room for the night if we wanted to get out of the tents. The tents and camping was also better than expected, with the trip stopping at some really stunning campsites, most of which provided showers and wifi. The truck, whilst not luxurious, provided a good deal of comfort with safe lockers to store everyone’s luggage. Leading up to the trip I expected the bare minimum considering it is Africa, however, I was pleasantly surprised by the standards Acacia provided. This was really a once in a lifetime experience, during which, my mother actually had to say: "Please, not another elephant." :DĪBSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! My trip with Acacia Africa doing the 29- day East African explorer was absolutely incredible. I work in the travel industry and I have to say I could not have picked a better tour for the quality and the price point. Also playing UNO with the rest of the gang. The time went by painlessly looking out of panoramic 360 windows (yes, without curtains, but that meant unobstructed views) and listening to Simon on various subjects ( that we quizzed him on) including local life, history, food, etc. I have to admit that I was nervous about the long drives, but the bus was spacious and comfortable and Simon was a very safe driver. The bungalows sometimes were in private game reserves (therefore increasing animal encounter possibilities) which I loved. We always had a pool, great lounge areas and it was very atmospheric - really at times felt like one is on a luxury safari tour. The accommodation were impressive considering that we sometimes were in the middle of nowhere. I have to specifically thank him for looking after my mom at times when she did not participate in scheduled activities. We had a great guide, Simon, who took care of us all. Not only did I experience what I called "National Geographic Live" and managed to see ALL the animals on my bucket list (but one), but the tour was also excellently organized. Once in a lifetime tour! Southern African Magic Accommodated exceeded my expectations. Read the full review from Emmalou2605 in the below link. I've spent all my money, and 'done' all the East and Southern Africa routes - but I will be back! :) The trip was a perfect mix of game drives, beaches, history and activities like bungee jumping and snorkelling. It was great to go to Mozambique and also Eastern Zimbabwe as not many companies do. Make sure you ask lots of questions and learn as much as you can - these guys are experts. The 'walking with the rhinos' day with Ian at Matopos, and the Hwange game drives with Andy were highlights of all my trips to Africa. The truck was a smaller overland truck and trailer (which I was worried about beforehand) but, as usual, it had all we needed and was perfect for the 6 of us on this tour. Our guides were Servius and Clever - amazing guys who did everything they possible could to help us, the food was way better than I ever cook myself, they made sure we knew what was happening at all time, and also let us plan some of our own meals/eating away from the truck/special requests for Clever's Sadza and beef stew. I can honestly say this was the best of all my trips! I have previously overlanded with Acacia and another company so knew what to expect from the whole set up. © 2023 The Buffalo Bills.Emmalou2605 Just travelled on the Mozambique and Zimbabwe Explorer tour.
